Kiamichi Mountains Christian Mission (KMCM/a.k.a Christ 40 Acres) Gets a Facelift

If you had attended the Honobia Bigfoot Conference anywhere from 2007-2011, you may remember the "steel tent" and other buildings across Christ 40 acres. Well the Kiamichi Mission Director Artie Carnes and staff have been doing overtime getting the mission up to date and a facelift with numerous projects (See photos below). This years Honobia Bigfoot Conference at the mission is going to look a little different than most people will remember what things looked like in the past. Some of the things that haven't changed, there will be plenty of vendors of all kinds on hand, there will be food vendors, music entertainment, raffles, and plenty of camping for people that want to enjoy the outdoors of Honobia, Oklahoma. If you wish to find out more about the camping you can contact the Honobia Bigfoot Conference President Tom Hefner at

Investigative File Case 016-2014 "Historical Information-Family Stories"

Open Case File  016-2014

Location: SE Oklahoma, Pushmataha County

Case Type: Historical Information from Family Stories

Time Frame: Late 1800s through Today

Investigator: Troy Hudson, Sasquatch Genome Project

This investigator was contacted on May 18, 2014 by email from an individual that wanted to relay some information that he believed would be beneficial in the research of the Sasquatch phenomenon. I traded emails with this individual for more than a week. The information provided was merely stories he heard as a child growing up in SE Oklahoma. Stories referred to his grandfather's bedtime stories of when he was a child growing up in a small rural farm house near Nashoba, Oklahoma.  The stories were typical, they would see a large bipedal hairy man like creature that would watch them from a distance when they would be farming or out hunting in the mountain areas around their home. Time went on and no further contact with this individual was not received until 07-11-2014.

The latest form of emails that were received indicated that this individual (this is investigator will nickname "Joe" for the sake of the public aspect of this investigation) has located multitude of journals and other family stories from other sources within the family. Spending couple of days and several hours on the phone with Joe, this investigator has opened a new chapter to historical information about the nature of what was the Indian Territory (1890) and oral reports of Sasquatch being present in SE Oklahoma prior to Statehood (1907). See also Investigative File Case (014-2014). This investigator was asked multiple times to the confidentiality of the names and exact locations of the homesteads for the sake of the family's knowledge of current Bigfoot Research Groups attempting to gain and exploit the family history for profit. This investigation will disclose additional information further down in this case file*

Joe's family has lived in and around the Nashoba, Clayton, and Cloudy, Oklahoma areas for several generations. Joe's family has native blood on both sides of the family. He can prove their stake of claim to the Indian Territory that dates back prior to 1889. Prior to today's Pushmataha County name and location, this investigator researched that the area of Nashoba was once called Nashoba County. First US Post Office established in 1886, Choctaw Nation. Joe's family journal indicated the extreme and harsh life that was lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s with drought, disease, almost impossible farming environment conditions. However the journal doe's have several entries that tell of stories of some family members observing only what was called "creature that stands up taller than the log home" Unknown measurements of the family home, no records to indicated the height of the log home. One story read (word for word) "late on summer evening kids were playing near the trail something screamed at them and they ran to the front" The story doesn't indicate what screamed at them and what the "front means, however further explanation from Joe's grandfather which was one of the children that was screamed at said, "It was tall with dark hair and had a deer on it's shoulder".

This investigator has spent the past 9 years conducting Sasquatch Field Investigations, and have heard and read more than 15 different witness reports that have seen and suggested that Sasquatch have been observed with dead deer draped over their shoulder's. The grandfather also referred to a story that was written in the year 1903 (4 years prior to Statehood) that several family members would not leave the safety of the homestead due to several large manlike creatures walking past the family's doorstep in the evening times. The meaning of doorstep was explained to being the front of the log cabin not actually the front door of the home. Only further explanation is that during the fall time frame the "creatures" were traveling between two mountain ridges and that their log home was in the middle of these "creatures" travel routes. The word creature was used multiple times due to the label/name Bigfoot-Sasquatch was never heard of by the family during this time period. The grandfather spoke of conversations with other families within a 10-15 mile radius of their homestead that spoke of seeing and hearing strange sounds and very large manlike creatures within the mountains between what today is Clayton and Nashoba, Oklahoma. One interesting entry into their family journal was the discovery of what they described as large strange foot tracks embedded into rocks located in a creek bed. It was many years later they were named Dinosaur tracks by the family. Joe remembers as a kid (1960s) that college students from someone came and examined the tracks, unknown if they still are there, the location has changed due to weather and environmental conditions.

The grandfather explained in his own words, that there were people that lived here before his family, those people warned of large creatures that walked like man, spoke like man, and had a family like man. These other people lived away from man, but they are related to man. This investigator has compiled numerous investigative files, learning the evidential value of the Sasquatch DNA project and heard stories many tribal elders that with this recent investigation it would seem just another confirmation that the Bigfoot-Sasquatch is just as many believe. A distant relative to the human race. This as many investigations leaves more questions than answers. (See conclusion)

*Related to the family wanting to have complete confidentiality on their name and exact location has been respected and adhered after learning that they have had contact with several members of a local Bigfoot research organization that has only left them with a very negative attitude towards research organizations as a whole. This investigator was contacted by the family after learning that I have grown up in SE Oklahoma and come from law enforcement as well as family friends passing my name along with recommendations.

Investigative Conclusions: History books, historical societies, local libraries, and even traditional storytelling authors tell stories and suggested exact history accounts of events. But are they true? Are they made up to give dramatization to the listener? Stories are majority of historical accounts of what our ancestors saw, heard, and did in the past. Written accounts of events and the "way it was" are but few and far between. The family's journal is a precious memory of their family's history and serves as a key to historical data about possible Sasquatch presence in SE Oklahoma. The family has indicated they know of another family that has written accounts of possible "creature" experiences that date back to when the highway was paved that leads from Antlers, Ok to Clayton, Ok. (Highway 271) The dinosaur tracks are very interesting area of their family's journal. This only leaves this investigation open for further interviews and research of historical data. The Sasquatch Genome Project/DNA has been a controversial subject to many, however evidence suggest that the results of the study link that it is better than 99% that the Bigfoot/Sasquatch have a connection to the human race. It is not this investigators purpose to make the reader believe that this scientific evidence is to be received, taken, and/or accepted as true and the only evidence of who and what the Bigfoot/Sasquatch are. The fact remains, that everyone that has had an encounter/witness that described them to be manlike, stand on two feet, speak a language, and sometimes have behavior similar to a human. Present the evidence and let the reader make up his/her own mind.

2014 Honobia Bigfoot Conference Speaker Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Ph.D.

Dr. Jeff Meldrum, Ph.D. holds a doctorate in anatomical sciences from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is currently an Associate Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology in the Departments of Biological Sciences and Anthropology, and is an affiliate curator at the Idaho Museum of Natural History. He has been at ISU for 17 years. His formal study of primates began with the terrestrial adaptations of African primates, and has since taken him from the skeletal cabinets of far-flung museums, to the remote badlands of Colombia and Argentina in search of fossil New World primates. He has published extensively on the evolutionary history of the South American primates and has described several new extinct species. More recently his attention has returned to the emergence of modern human bipedalism and the analysis of fossil hominid footprints. His co-edited volume, From Biped to Strider: the Emergence of Modern Human Walking, Running, and Resource Transport, redirects attention from the origins of simply walking on two legs, to the pattern of emergence of the innovations specifically unique to modern human gait. His interests in the footprints attributed to an unrecognized North American ape, commonly known as sasquatch, came into focus when he literally crossed paths with an enigmatic set of tracks in the mountains of Washington State. He has conducted collaborative laboratory research and field work throughout the Pacific Northwest and Intermountain West, and has spoken about his findings in numerous interviews, television appearances, public and professional presentations. He has written an expanded companion volume to the very successful Discovery Channel documentary, Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science that explores his and other scientists’ evaluation of the evidence for the reality of this legendary primate. He has pursued his research in China, investigating evidence of the Yeren, the Chinese Wildman while visiting the mountains of Hubei Province.

Investigative File Case 015-2014 (03-15-2014) "Interesting Incident at Sardis Lake, SE Oklahoma"

Open Case File  015-2014

Location: SE Oklahoma, Pushmataha County, Sardis Lake

Case Type: Interesting Incident at Sardis Lake

Time Frame: 03-15-2014

Investigator: Troy Hudson, Sasquatch Genome Project

On 07-02-2014 this investigator was contacted by a co-worker that he knows a retired federal law enforcement officer (L.E.O) that had a interesting incident at Sardis Lake last spring while scouting some hunting areas. I was contacted by the retired LEO (Law Enforcement Officer) and we talked for more than an hour. He is former military and federal law enforcement, he does have vast experience and formal education in covert and overt surveillance. This being said, gives the indication that this witness is an expert in identifying targets, observing human behavior and actions. On this particular date in March of this year, the witness was camping with two family members on the North side of Sardis Lake near Bolen Hollow Public Hunting Area. They had set up camp on that Friday (14th) and no unusual activity to recall. The next day (15th) went without any strange things to report. Later in the late afternoon, during the trip out of the public hunting area his cousin was walking behind him and his other cousin stopped and lightly whistled at them both, the LEO said he paused turned and saw that his cousin was looking off to the right of the small trail they where walking on. He said his cousin was making the motion with his left hand indicating that he was hearing something walking next to them. Whatever was walking near them, it had stopped. They continued on to the trail head and stopped at their pickup. The cousin said that he could hear something that sounded bipedal walking off to the side of the trail, he just couldn't see into the woods to identify what or who it was.  He did indicated that he felt that he was being watched by another person, he said that both of his cousins seemed concerned that they both had several decades of being in the woods and said that it seemed it was a person walking near them, whoever it was stopped when they stopped.

They stood near their vehicle and observed the trail, up and down the tree line hoping someone would step out. LEO said they waited about 15 minutes and then he became overwhelmed with a urge to leave and felt as if someone was watching them from the tree line. One of his cousins also said that he felt as if something was watching them from the safety of the woods. They all agreed to depart and head back to the camp. The camp was little over 3 miles away from where they had parked. They made dinner and by this time the sun had gone down and the temperature had gotten somewhat chilly. The 16th of March was a full moon, so their camp area was very well illuminated. The LEO said later they all agreed that it was around midnight when they heard a loud coyote type yelp from the direction of where they had been scouting the public hunting land, it was described as a coyote on steroids. That the yelp was so loud that they all agreed that it seemed far away but yet it was so powerful and had strength behind it. They discussed among each other that they all had spent hundreds if not thousands of hours in the woods and laughed that none of them had ever seen a Bigfoot. They all had heard that this part of Oklahoma is well known for the reports of sightings of Bigfoot. Their campfire discussions turned to "what if it was a Bigfoot" that had been stalking them earlier this evening? Some time around 1:00 AM, they agreed of the time frame that something had broke a very large branch just to the west of their campsite. They immediately grabbed flashlights and started to search the area as well as a 360 degrees around their campsite.

One cousin said , excitingly, that he swore his flashlight came across a leg with dark hair stepped back behind a large oak tree that later they estimated to be no less than 50 yards inside the woods from where the cousin was standing. He was so excited that when he yelled out, "I see a hairy leg, I see something" the LEO figured he was seeing a portion of a deer leg walking in the woods. When they started talking more about what he had seen, they started to turn off their flashlights that is when they heard (from the same areas as he saw the hairy leg) they heard a very deep grunt, followed with a branch breaking under heavy weight. The LEO said his cousin described the leg as he saw what he thought would have been from the right knee down, reason why he knows it would have been the right knee, the portion of the tree was to the left of the leg. He went onto described the leg was very thick, with dark brownish short hair, he said that the brief second he observed the leg it seemed human like to him. They all retrieved handguns for protection. They discussed staying the night, getting no sleep, and worrying about if they would have to set up some type of military style security for the camp. (Meaning they take turns staying up keeping the fire going and over watching the campsite) They all agreed they couldn't handle the stress if it was a Bigfoot and they had to be on guard all night long, they broke down camp and set out for home, this was approximately 4:00 AM. The LEO said just as they were starting their vehicle they all heard a very loud mountain lion style scream come from the east of their campsite. After they had returned home and was interested in researching the internet on Bigfoot sounds and behavior. They came across several websites and came to a conclusion, they agreed on that it would be more than a 100% chance that it was a Bigfoot that they had encountered on the trail and back at their campsite.

The LEO describes that both of his cousins, as well as himself are now much more attentive in the woods. He went onto say that they all agreed that if they camp anywhere in the Kiamichi Mountains that they should camp with no less than 3 people and be heavily armed. He did say that he would never shoot at one, but he would defend himself and his family if they are threatened. He also indicated that he didn't feel threatened, more of feeling the mystery of who or what is in the woods near them, however he did say that the only thing that kept running through his mind was "What the heck is out there" One of the other cousins said he felt as if what ever was out there didn't want them there and he had the uncontrollable urge to leave.

Coming to a conclusion that after talking with the witness and hearing all the key factors, very strong indication that they did have a encounter with a Bigfoot, all of the descriptions of behavior is indicative of a Bigfoot. Same type of report can be found on just about any Bigfoot Research site on the net. This investigator has heard dozens of reports from the Sardis Lake area dating back well into the late 80s.

Investigative File Case 014-2014 "History of Secrets About Sasquatch with Native People"

Open Case File  014-2014

Location: SE Oklahoma, Atoka County

Case Type: History of Secrets About Sasquatch with Native People

Time Frame: Early 1800s through Today

Investigator: Troy Hudson, Sasquatch Genome Project

On 06-30-2014 I was contacted through "word of mouth" by a gentleman that wanted to relay some information that he knew about Sasquatch from stories that he had collected by his brother and father. This investigator will refer to this gentleman as "Frank" he wishes that his name and family be kept in strict confidentiality. Hence that title of the investigation, "Secrets about Sasquatch with Native People". Origins of initial contact to this investigator is that Frank had been to the Honobia Bigfoot Conference in 2010. He heard our stories at the storytelling on Friday night (10-1-2010) and was instantly interested in the fact that we had so many witness that were eager to share stories that were related to Native People. Frank was raised with tradition and culture values of his tribe. Frank is a combination of Seminole and Creek, he was raised in far Northeastern Oklahoma. Frank told stories that this investigator has heard many times, there are stories from family and stories that come from the tribe. All in all most stories start out with "as it was told to me". This by some people is referring to that fact that the person telling the story is giving credit to the one that the story originally came from. Some may say it is only way to stay neutral in the fact the story maybe so far fetched as to the storyteller saying "it isn't me that made this up". Either way just about all historical nature of Bigfoot/Sasquatch stories are going to come from oral history of accounts. It is the listener that will have to make up her/his mind if she/he wants to believe the story. However, here is what was told by Frank.

Over the past 30 years Frank has had an interest in Sasquatch and has always had the fascination of if the stories he heard as a child were true or just "bedtime" stories. Either way the stories he heard were not talked about to outsiders by tribal people. Frank asked this investigator if I had visited any tribal land and heard stories from any elders? This investigator has been to many tribal properties and spoke with several elders over the years. Coincidence that this investigator had spoken to a tribal elder just this past spring during a visit to a location near Anadarko, Oklahoma. This trip had similar investigative findings about "secret stories from the tribe about "the wild man". Frank used the words "Big Brother" from his father's stories, he also said that in his belief's that most of the stories he personally heard always referred to them as our "distant brothers" or "broken family". The later was that Frank referred to is describing that his father was told by his elder's that the "Big People" Sasquatch are not much more than genetic-blood relatives that separated from us hundreds of years ago. "Separated, a.k.a broken".  Frank said that he knows a place near the Neosho River in NE Oklahoma that several years ago the people that lived within a mile of the river were scared to go out at night. The description of loud screams and large dark figures in the woods near people's home resulted in calls to 911. Frank went onto to say that his father remembers that when he was a kid the areas near the river were off limits, never visited, and were left alone by the "old timers" of his grand-father's generation, because the "Big Man" lives there, the Sasquatch name was used later in his adult years. His father also said that they would leave food, (bread and corn) out for the "Big Man" so he wouldn't steal any of their chickens. Frank was asked what time frame were the stories he was told date back to. Since some of his stories that he was told date back to his great-grandfather, he believes they go far back to the early 1900s.

Frank gave several websites that he had researched and shared with this investigator that gave accounts of stories that were almost identical to what he had heard and researched himself. Here are some excerpts with links to the websites.

Website #1

"Both whites and indians have stories that they rarely tell because they are so paranormal in nature"

"Let me tell you about something that people don’t talk about here"

" the Hairy Man is somehow related to this area in a big way and my ancestors, having been the first to settle this area, have had extensive experiences with the Hairy Men that have been buried under generations of secrecy and tight lips"

"Only a select circle, including my father, remembers these incidents. Almost nobody talks about them"

"The tight lipped nature of Bigfoot is something people need to understand. This world is so full of cynics and boring people that it is assumed if anything ‘fantastic’ happens it must be made into a headline. That’s simply not true. People who have traumatic and personal experiences with these things do not want attention for it. They don’t want anyone to know about it"

http://www.ghosttheory.com/2011/10/10/generational-stories-group-of-native-americans-kill-sasquatch

Website #2

"The Lakota, or western Sioux, call Bigfoot Chiye-tanka (Chiha-tanka in Dakota or eastern Sioux); "chiye" means "elder brother" and "tanka" means "great" or "big".

"He is both spirit and real being,...."

"They exist in another dimension from us, but can appear in this dimension whenever they have a reason to. See, it's like there are many levels, many dimensions. When our time in this one is finished, we move on to the next...."

"The Big Man comes from God. He's our big brother, kind of looks out for..."

"...view Bigfoot much in the same way the Hopi do, as a messenger from the Creator trying to warn humans to change their ways or face disaster...."

"Bigfoot is seen as a kind of "brother" to humans"

http://web.ncf.ca/bz050/HomePage.bfna.html

There is another area that Frank talked about briefly was the old stories of the war between the Bigfoot and Indians. This investigator has seen and heard many stories about the "Human and Bigfoot War of 1855". There are several different versions of these stories, one is that it was a war between the Choctaw Indians and the Bigfoot's of S.E. Oklahoma (Kiamichi Mountains area). Another is that it was a combination of White Settlers and Indians fighting the Bigfoot after the Bigfoot would steal food and children from the Indians and Settlers. Some versions of the stories (even from tribal historians) give indications that this took place much earlier than 1855, maybe even in the 1830's. This investigator will conduct an separate investigation into these stories/reports. In conclusion, Frank opens up several interesting points that when you get down to the heart of things is that, most traditional native/tribal elders and historians will not talk about Bigfoot/Sasquatch to non-believers and even to other people in the Tribe. It has become an unwritten rule about disclosing any knowledge about Bigfoot to anyone. Some refer to it as a "taboo".  This investigator has heard many reason's why no one wants to talk about Bigfoot, common words were "no respect" "people want to turn it into Hollywood" and "creation of God, must be respected, not put on TV". Either way you want to chose there are most likely hundreds if not thousands of stories that lay within our family's generations. This investigator was told several years ago that even my own family (On my mother's side) has Bigfoot stories from when she was a child growing up. Why were stories like these never spoke of? If they were made up for fantasy or whatever, then why are they not being told? You never know why people do, think, and say what they do. This investigator knows two separate elders that will not speak of what they know of Bigfoot/Sasquatch, all that is said is "The truth, no one really wants to hear" "Let things be, they are with the Creator". Frank gave one excellent statement, "people should realize that what we know about our history is very little, truth is as only good as it is when it was witnessed or heard by the first person to see or hear it" How much is real and how much is fantasy to make the story more glamorous? To be continued............
